An eye-opening visit to Rishikesh, India

In February 2024, East Meets West Yog (EMWY) members from Canada, the United States and Guyana visited students who participate in programs sponsored by Khushi Charitable Society in Rishikesh, India. The visit was a meet-and-greet and an opportunity for EMWY members to see first-hand how their support and the support from East Meets West – Children’s Fund (EMW-CEF) would impact the lives of these children and others living in impoverished communities

Sewing machines donated to young women

In October 2024, East Meets West – Children’s Education Fund (EMW-CEF) and sister organization East Meets West Yog (EMWY) donated 13 sewing machines to graduates of a one-year stitching and design certificate program, one of several vocational programs offered by the Khushi Charitable Society in Rishikesh, India. The graduates are now equipped to start a business, many while caring for young children at home.

Children participating in programs sponsored by the Khushi Charitable Society were greeted by guests from East Meets West Yog (EMWY) and East Meets West – Children’s Education Fund (EMW-CEF) several times over the past few years. During one visit, 350 pairs of shoes were donated to the students.

Students in Beldandi, Nepal, receive backpacks

East Meets West – Children’s Education Fund (EMW-CEF) and sister organization East Meets West Yog (EMWY) donated 200 backpacks to children in the village of Beldandi, Mahendranagar in Nepal.

Annual EMW-CEF & EMWY fundraising event

Volunteers from East Meets West- Children’s Education Fund (EMW-CEF) and East Meets West Yog (EMWY) host an annual plant and bake fundraising event in the Toronto area in support of children living in impoverished communities in Nepal, India and Guyana.

Outreach to children in Guyana

Children living in impoverished communities in the Berbice District, Guyana receive support from East Meets West – Children’s Education Fund (EMW-CEF) and sister organization East Meets West Yog (EMWY) through the Oaks of Righteousness Charity. The Oaks of Righteousness is a registered non-profit charity with headquarters in New York.
