A Message From Our Founder
Why I started EMWCEF
“The inspiration behind East Meets West Children’s Education Fund (EMWCEF) began in 2019 when I travelled to India to study Karma yoga.
I witnessed children facing the reality of poverty. Many were forced to leave school - not because they lack ambition or hope - but because essentials were not available: a notebook, a warm meal, a pair of shoes.
I returned home to shared my troubling experience with my yoga students. Together, we turned compassion into action through East Meets West Yog (EMW Yog). EMW Yog offered online yoga classes and also raised funds to support children living in impoverished communities.
We soon realized that our vision was bigger than yoga. EMWCEF was formed. Today, every backpack, every meal, every scholarship sends a message to a child; they are valued and worthy of a brighter future.

We are a community of individuals who have witnessed firsthand how poverty devastates children in impoverished communities in India, Nepal and Guyana.
Why we exist
Imagine a young child in a remote village in Nepal, sitting in a classroom, trying to learn — but she is hungry and has no notebook or pencil. Many of her classmates face the same challenges.
EMWCEF bridges that gap — providing scholarships, bursaries, books, equipment, educational aids and vocational training to children and families who need it most.
We are a CRA-registered Canadian charity (Registration #: 726899750 RR0001). Every eligible donation qualifies for an official tax receipt.

We don’t just send money — we deliver tangible resources directly to children and families, and we document every step.
School Supplies
Backpacks were distributed directly to children in Nepal who cannot afford basic school materials. They also received shoes and socks.

Nutrition Program
Hot meals and nutrition support for children at the Khushi Charitable Society in Rishikesh, India — because hungry children cannot learn.
Preparing meals for students
Vocational Training
Sewing machines, computer training, and beautician programs for young women and mothers — building economic independence from the ground up.
13 sewing machines provided
After-School Program
Students in Rishikesh participate in after-school programs sponsored by Khushi Charitable Society, supported by EMWCEF funding.

Guyana Education Support
EMWCEF partnered with the Oaks of Righteousness (OOR) to provide scholarships and empower children living in impoverished communities in Guyana.
